County of Maui
Through a contract with the American Red Cross, I served as Video Production Manager for the County of Maui, creating content focused on resilience and recovery in the aftermath of the devastating Maui wildfires. My work encompassed producing videos and capturing photography for social media, as well as internal and external county communications. In addition to pre-produced materials, I also directed and managed weekly live-streams for community meetings, ensuring timely and engaging coverage of ongoing recovery efforts.

Caring for Maui's Unsheltered
Created in collaboration with non-profits and local agencies, this video was produced to show the county of maui's role in helping those experiencing homelessness.
One Year Anniversary of the Maui Wildfires
Released on the one-year anniversary of the devastating Maui wildfires, this project reflects both the resilience of the community and the long road that still lies ahead. The film honors the progress made while acknowledging the ongoing work required for full recovery. Through the voices of community leaders and government officials, it offers a thoughtful perspective on the tragedy and a forward-looking sense of hope for Maui’s future.
Lanai Post-Fire Efforts
This video was shared as a testament to resilience and collective action, highlighting the strength of community in the aftermath of crisis. It also recognizes and honors the sister island of Lānaʻi for its meaningful contributions and support during the post-fire recovery efforts.
First Home in Lahaina to Rebuild
This landmark construction was presented as a tangible symbol of progress and renewal on the island. After months in which the burn zone stood as a stark reminder of devastation, and the bureaucratic path toward rebuilding felt never-ending for many residents, this milestone offered visible proof that forward movement was possible. By sharing it, the County of Maui helped ease uncertainty and restore confidence, positioning the project as a beacon of hope for the community’s continued recovery.
Public Service Recognition Week
This video campaign highlighted county employees and the essential work they carry out each day in service of the community. By capturing their routines, responsibilities, and dedication in action, each piece underscores the meaningful impact of their roles and the deep commitment they bring to serving the people of Maui.
Chef Hui's Response
This project spotlighted the work of Chef Hui and its mission to feed survivors in the aftermath of disaster. Through personal, emotional reflections from those involved, the video captures the depth of care and commitment behind each meal served, revealing a profound devotion to the people of Maui. In sharing these stories, the County offered a meaningful acknowledgment. It was posted as a way of saying: we see you, and we are grateful for the work you do.
Recovery and Removal of Trees
In the Lahaina Burn Zone
This video served as an informative guide for residents, explaining the meaning behind the various symbols throughout the burn zone and outlining the process for assessing and preserving affected trees. It also offered a sense of hope by highlighting the work of Treecovery and its mission to replant and safeguard cuttings from Lahaina. By illuminating the restoration efforts underway, the piece helped transform uncertainty into understanding, and acted as a literal symbol of regrowth.
West Maui's Office of Recovery
Blessing Ceremony
This piece marked the opening of the Office of Recovery, presenting a tangible symbol of the County’s long-term commitment to rebuilding. In the wake of uncertainty, the creation of a dedicated physical space emphasized something more human than online portals.
Lahaina Unity March
Cinematic footage that I captured during the community-led March for Unity, a powerful expression of solidarity in the wake of disaster. As residents navigated loss and uncertainty, they chose to come together in resilience, sending a visible and hopeful message about the future they are committed to rebuilding together.
Social Media
I shot, edited, scheduled and posted videos, photos, and graphics on the County of Maui Facebook and Instagram pages. Most of my posts revolved around press conferences, events, emergency management updates, and stories centered on resiliency and recovery. You can view some of my work here.
County Seal Animation
Animated the county logo in After Effects to use as an outro on every video produced by the County of Maui.
County of Maui Slides
Created versatile slides, using photos that I took, which the county used on thank you cards, conference meeting slides, website landing pages, social media posts, emails and more.
Live Production
Using limited resources of laptops, open source OBS software, iPhones and USB Microphones, I created a live-streaming framework for weekly community meetings. This provided an accessible option for residents to learn and participate. You can view my work on mauirecovers.org from November 2023 to September 2024
Livesteam Guidlines
Presentation sent out to communications officers from the EPA, FEMA, US Army Corps of Engineers, and other local, state, and federal agencies to provide an accessible and aesthetic online viewing experience for the weekly live-streamed community meetings.
